Press Statement Tom Casey, Deputy Spokesman Washington, DC December 18, 2007
Latvia-Russia Border TreatyThe United States welcomes the exchange of instruments of ratification, and thereby the entering into force, of a treaty between Latvia and Russia to demarcate the border between their two nations. By this action, Russia and Latvia have together taken a historic step in support of constructive regional relations. The United States has recognized Latvia continuously since 1922, and we remain committed to Latvia's freedom, security, and independence, as evidenced by our extensive bilateral ties and our joint membership in NATO.
