Concerns About Violence in the Comoros

The United States is concerned by the reports of fighting on Anjouan Island in the Comoros between the Union of the Comoros army and Anjouan President Bacar's forces. We urge both the national Union of the Comoros Government and the Anjouan Island Government to resolve political differences through constitutional and democratic processes. We encourage both governments to demonstrate their commitment to peace and stability by immediately resuming a process of peaceful dialogue.
