Earth Day 2008: Science and Technology Working for the Environment

Under Secretary for Democracy and Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky will deliver opening remarks at an event commemorating Earth Day 2008 on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Loy Henderson Auditorium at the Department of State. Experts will lead presentations on various science and technology related themes highlighting the U.S.’s role in advancing science and technology initiatives to serve the global environment. Assistant Secretary for Oceans, Environment and Science Claudia McMurray will serve as moderator for the program and Science and Technology Advisor to the Secretary Nina Fedoroff will make remarks.

This event will be open for press coverage.

Final access time for all press: 9:45 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance

Media representatives planning to attend this event should present one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued media identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver's license or passport).
