Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to Announce the Second International Women of Courage Awards

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will announce recipients of the Secretary of State's Award for International Women of Courage. Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky will present awards to the honorees. The presentation honoring this year’s recipients will take place on Monday, March 10 at 11:30 a.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Room of the U.S. Department of State.

Secretary Rice established this annual Award for International Women of Courage as part of International Women's Day, recognizing women around the globe who have shown exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for women's rights and empowerment. This is the only Department of State award that pays tribute to emerging women leaders worldwide.

The announcement and awards ceremony will be open for press coverage.

Pre-set time for cameras: 10:30 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance.
Final access time for writers and still photographers: 11:00 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance.
