U.S. National Commission for UNESCO Traveling Fellowship

The Office of UNESCO Affairs within the Department of State is pleased to announce the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO Laura W. Bush Traveling Fellowship. Funding for this fellowship has generously come from a private donation.

The Fellowship is intended to support work by American college students in foreign countries on topics related to the mandate of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and that seek to build strong ties among nations.

The Fellowship is named for Mrs. Laura W. Bush, who was active in the United States’ reentry to UNESCO and who has been designated by UNESCO as an Honorary Ambassador recognizing her dedication to learning and the sharing of knowledge. The Fellowship is anticipated to be awarded twice per year with Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter application cycles. The initial individual award for Spring/Summer 2008 is expected to be $2,500.

Further information about the call for applications, eligibility, selection criteria, and relevant deadlines will soon be available at the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO website – www.state.gov/p/io/unesco – or by contacting the Executive Secretariat at 202-663-0026.
