Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Melanne Verveer recently accompanied Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton as she traveled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and announced expanded U.S. plans to combat the widespread and brutal gender-based violence in that country.
Ambassador Verveer will be available for a half-hour telephone press conference at 10:30 a.m. EDT on Thursday, August 13, 2009.
