Question Taken at the December 16, 2009, Daily Press Briefing
Question: Has USAID or other federal agencies deferred employee travel to Cuba after the recent arrest of an American government employee? If so, what agencies have done this? Why hasn’t the State Department deferred travel for its employees?
Answer: The U.S. Government has not deferred travel to Cuba for its employees. Travel by U.S. Government employees to any country is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and determined by country-specific circumstances.
