Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will join New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to officially launch NY400 Week, a citywide celebration to mark the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s arrival in New York Harbor in September 1609.
The event will take place on September 8 at 9:00 a.m. on the flight deck of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City.
Secretary Clinton, Mayor Bloomberg and more than 200 guests will welcome His Royal Highness Crown Prince Willem-Alexander of Orange and Her Royal Highness Princess Máxima of The Netherlands to New York for the celebration.
An international parade of ships including NATO vessels, Dutch naval frigates, the USS Carney, typical Dutch barges, seven minesweepers, and a replica of Hudson’s ship the Half Moon and Captain Block’s Onrust and Flying Dutchman racers will sail past the Intrepid. The Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy will perform and the Dutch naval ship HMNLS Tromp will offer a 21-gun salute. Visit www.ny400.org for more information.
