Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will co-host a meeting of high-level international stakeholders to discuss key food security issues on Saturday, September 26 at 4:00 p.m. in the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Please note the change in venue to the United Nations Headquarters.

At the July, 2009 G8 Summit in L’Aquila, Italy, more than 25 countries and organizations agreed on principles for a comprehensive and coordinated approach to support country-led food security strategies, pledging $20 billion to that effort. The September 26 meeting will bring together stakeholders to broaden support for these principles and discuss how best to animate them to reduce hunger.

Secretary Clinton will deliver opening and closing remarks.

The event will be open to the press; however, space is limited.
Only press with UN accreditation will be allowed to attend. Press credentials can be obtained from the UN Media Accreditation Unit, at www.un.org/media/accreditation.
Pre-set time for journalists: 3:30 p.m. at the 3rd floor Liaison Desk.
