In a run up to her official Security Council intervention next Wednesday, September 30 to combat sexual violence in armed conflict, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will deliver remarks at a luncheon hosted by the United States for female Chiefs of State, Heads of Government, and Foreign Ministers. The luncheon will take place on Thursday, September 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan, New York.
Secretary Clinton will be joined at the luncheon by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, and U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues, Melanne Verveer.
Secretary Clinton will also deliver opening remarks at an event co-sponsored by the U.S., the Netherlands, and Brazil on combating violence against girls on Friday, September 25, at 8:00 a.m. at the United Nations Headquarters. The media logistics of this event will be determined by the United Nations.The opening of the 9/24 luncheon will be open to the press.
