Assistant Secretary Jose Fernandez is currently traveling to Indonesia and Japan from May 10, 2010 to May 14, 2010. He will engage with the private sector, as well as governments and State Department Missions in the region to build support for opening markets to U.S. products as part of President Obama’s National Export Initiative and following up on the April Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship.
In Indonesia he will meet in Jakarta with Indonesian government representatives, American Chamber of Commerce members and the Indonesian business community. Discussion will focus on opportunities in agriculture and energy, ways to expand trade and investment, and entrepreneurship cooperation.
In Japan, Assistant Secretary Fernandez will meet in Tokyo with Japanese government counterparts, and engage the Japanese private sector and American Chamber of Commerce members to discuss increased cooperation on innovation and entrepreneurship as a means of fostering economic growth.
