On May 18, 2010 the State Department’s Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Director at U.S. Embassy Kabul, Drew Quinn, presented radio equipment to the Director of the Central Prisons Directorate, General Amir Mohammad Jamsheed, at a ceremony held at the Central Prison Directorate Headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan. To enhance the operations of the Central Prison Directorate in Afghanistan, INL purchased 460 portable radios, chargers, and multiple charger units. The total cost is $157,760. The portable radios will be distributed to every provincial prison throughout Afghanistan. These items will be used to bolster the ability of the Afghan prison staff to better protect all staff, inmates, and the public in their daily mission of secure prison management.
