Media Availability of the U.S.-Nigeria Binational Commission Energy and Investment Working Group Meetings, June 10-11

U.S. Coordinator for International Energy Affairs David Goldwyn and the Permanent Secretary of Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources Elizabeth B. P. Emuren will hold a media availability following the signing of a joint communiqué on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. on the importance of advancing renewable energy opportunities in Nigeria.

Following the signing of the communiqué, the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) Director Leocadia I. Zak and Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ikeonu, the head of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s Strategy & Project Management Office will sign a grant agreement whereby USTDA will fund technical assistance to develop a framework for renewable energy independent power production in Nigeria.

This media availability will be on-the-record / on-camera and will take place at the Department of State in conference room 1107.

Pre-set time for cameras: 12:00 noon from the 23rd Street entrance.

Final access time for all press: 12:15 p.m. from the 23rd Street entrance.

Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (U.S. Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).
