Ambassador CdeBaca to Travel to Haiti and the Dominican Republic July 7-9, 2010

Ambassador Luis CdeBaca, who directs the Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, will travel to Haiti and the Dominican Republic July 7-9, 2010. The Ambassador will discuss opportunities for increased partnership in the global effort to combat modern slavery with government officials, law enforcement, and civil society.

In addition, Ambassador CdeBaca will visit an internally displaced persons settlement and an orphanage.

Ambassador CdeBaca was appointed by President Obama to direct the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons at the Department of State, where he serves as a Senior Advisor to Secretary Clinton and leads the United States’ global fight against contemporary forms of slavery. The Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons develops and implements the State Department’s policy for the protection of trafficking victims, prosecution of traffickers, and prevention of trafficking.
