U.S.-Vietnam 15th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Reception

On July 14, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Kurt Campbell and Ambassador of Vietnam, Le Cong Phung, will co-host a reception in celebration of fifteen years of U.S.-Vietnam diplomatic relations. Assistant Secretary Campbell and Ambassador Phung will provide remarks followed by brief remarks from former President Bill Clinton, Senator John Kerry, Senator John McCain, and Congressman Eni Faleomavaega.

Remarks are open to the press and will begin at 7:00 pm at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC. Following opening remarks, the reception will be closed to the press.

Media planning to attend must RSVP to (202) 647-2538 or by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010.

Pre-set time for cameras: 6:00 p.m.

Final access time for journalists and still photographers: 6:30 p.m.

To gain entry to the event, media representatives must RSVP and present one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (U.S. Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).
