Following the success of its Russian Basketball Sports Visitor Program, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs SportsUnited Office will host a delegation of Russian youth in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for a swimming program July 16-30, 2010. Like the basketball exchange in May 2010, this Swimming Sports Visitor Program will be carried out under the auspices of the U.S.-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission’s Education, Culture, Sports and Media Working Group.

SportsUnited will partner with the U.S. Olympic Committee to host the Russian delegation of 12 boys and 7 girls, ages 13 to16, four coaches, and one team leader, at the Pine Crest Preparatory School swimming camp. The camp, led by USA Swimming National Team coach Jay Fitzgerald, will provide an opportunity for Russian participants to learn swimming techniques and participate in cultural activities alongside their American and international counterparts. Program participants will also take part in SportsUnited core sessions on disability sport and conflict resolution, and will visit an American school and local community organizations.

For more information and to follow participants' blog, please visit the SportsUnited website, Facebook page.
