Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell will travel to New Zealand and Vanuatu August 2-7, 2010.
Assistant Secretary Campbell will arrive in Wellington on August 4. While there, he will meet with New Zealand senior government leaders.
On August 5, Assistant Secretary Campbell will arrive in Port Vila to lead the U.S. interagency delegation at the Pacific Island Forum (PIF) Post Forum Dialogue. The PIF is an inter-governmental organization that aims to enhance cooperation between the independent countries of the Pacific Ocean and represent their interests. The Post Forum Dialogue provides an opportunity for key partners to meet with members of the PIF to discuss issues such as climate change, maritime security, and economic development. Assistant Secretary Campbell will meet with senior leaders from several Pacific Island countries, Australia, and New Zealand. He will also meet with senior officials from other Post Forum Dialogue partners, including China, Japan, and the European Union.
