Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Andrew J. Shapiro traveled to Libya October 12 and 13 for consultations with officials from the Libyan government. Discussions covered a range of political-military issues, including regional security developments, humanitarian demining, and related areas.
These meetings represent another step forward in our bilateral relations with Libya, and reflect the Administration’s commitment to building new partnerships to address shared strategic challenges.
