Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs Maria Otero will travel to Copenhagen, Denmark, October 28 - October 31, to deliver a closing keynote address at the Women in Security Conference. She will also hold bilateral meetings with government officials while in Copenhagen.
Following her stop in Denmark, Under Secretary Otero will travel to Paris, November 1-3, for meetings with French, UNESCO and OECD officials on environment, human rights, rule of law and humanitarian assistance issues.
During her stop in Brussels, November 3-5, Under Secretary Otero will meet with EU officials on human rights, environment, science and technology cooperation, rule of law and humanitarian assistance issues.
As Under Secretary for Democracy and Global Affairs, Under Secretary Otero oversees the bureaus of Population, Refugees, and Migration; Democracy, Human Rights and Labor; Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs; and the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.
