QUESTION TAKEN AT THE DECEMBER 22, 2010 DAILY PRESS BRIEFING
Question: What is the State Department’s reaction to the report issued by HRW on Sunday focused on Israel and the Occupied Territories?
Answer: We have read Human Rights Watch’s (HRW) latest report on Israel and the Occupied Territories. Many of the issues covered in the HRW report are also covered in great detail in the State Department’s annual Human Rights Report. The U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv and Consulate General in Jerusalem closely monitor human rights conditions and issues throughout their consular districts. The United States expects Israel and the Palestinian Authority to uphold their human rights obligations.
