Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Arturo A. Valenzuela is traveling to Argentina and Chile from January 9 to 15. The purpose of his trip is to deepen relations with these key regional partners.
In both countries, Assistant Secretary Valenzuela will meet with senior officials to discuss issues of mutual interest, including bilateral cooperation and regional concerns. He will also meet with political and civil society leaders. In Chile, Assistant Secretary Valenzuela will participate in U.S. – Chile Bilateral Political Consultations. He is looking forward to working with Chilean officials on a broad range of topics that are of interest to both countries. Areas that may be addressed during this meeting include law enforcement training, peacekeeping operations, as well as energy, environment, science, and social protection initiatives, among others.
