The United States congratulates Vlad Filat on his approval by parliament as Prime Minister of Moldova and welcomes the formation of the new Moldovan government by the Alliance for European Integration coalition. The United States strongly supports the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Moldova and the aspirations of its people to build a fully democratic and prosperous European state. We look forward to working with the citizens of Moldova and their political leaders on expanding the democratic and economic reforms carried out during the past year. We will continue to provide practical assistance to Moldova during this transition, including our $262 million Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact for the development of Moldova’s agriculture and infrastructure.
