The U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce the issuance of the Fiscal Year 2010 Annual Adoption Report. This report is prepared for Congress in compliance with the Intercountry Adoption Act of 2000.
In Fiscal Year 2010, the U.S. Government issued 11,059 immigrant visas to children adopted by U.S. citizen adopting parents. These children immigrated to the United States from over 100 different countries and found new homes in every one of our 50 states.
The United States is committed to ensuring that all intercountry adoptions are in the best interests of the child and that effective safeguards are in place to ensure safe, transparent, and successful adoption procedures.
