The United States Agency for International Development’s Office of Food for Peace has approved a food aid contribution to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Cote d’Ivoire in the amount of $4.5 million and another contribution for Ivorian refugees in Liberia for $7.5 million. The World Food Programme will provide food assistance to people impacted by the current crisis in Cote d’Ivoire. In Cote d’Ivoire, the World Food Programme will address the 180-day food needs of approximately 135,000 displaced persons and host communities in the western, northern, and central regions, including Abidjan; and in Liberia, the World Food Programme will address the 180-day food needs of approximately 150,000 Ivoirian refugees and 26,000 members of Liberian host communities.
