Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Melanne Verveer will travel to Egypt, Israel, Jerusalem and the West Bank from April 15 through April 22. While in Cairo, from April 15 to April 19, Ambassador Verveer will meet with government officials, political party representatives, civil society leaders and the media, to support the participation and inclusion of women in Egypt’s transition. She will also meet with local business representatives, youth organizations, and women’s NGOs to spotlight the work they are doing to promote women’s empowerment.
Ambassador Verveer will continue on to Israel, Jerusalem and the West Bank April 20 to April 22. She will meet with Israeli and Palestinian government officials, civil society representatives, women’s organizations, and other interlocutors in support of women’s leadership role as peacebuilders.
