Dr. Jean Ping, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, will lead a senior-level delegation of African Union officials to Washington on April 20 – 21 for the United States-African Union High Level Meeting. The High Level Meeting is an annual forum for bilateral dialogue between the United States and the African Union on a wide variety of subjects of mutual interest. This year's program will include discussions on both political and economic tracks.
During the course of the two day visit, Chairperson Ping and his delegation will meet with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Attorney General Eric Holder, Deputy National Security Advisor Denis McDonough, Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns, Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Judith McHale, U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Under Secretary Darci Vetter, and other senior officials.
