Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Dr. Kerri-Ann Jones will lead a U.S. government delegation to the conference on Economic Development through Science and Technology Innovation in Rabat, Morocco, held at the Royal Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, June 16-17. The conference is part of a series of U.S.-sponsored Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) Initiative consultative meetings. GIST is one of the primary initiatives developed to fulfill President Barack Obama’s vision of improving economic prosperity in the Middle East, North Africa region and across the globe through science and technology innovation. These conferences focus on developing partnerships and programs that advance technology commercialization and economic development in the region. The Rabat conference will help enhance innovation efforts and create stronger connections between universities and the private sector.
