QUESTION: Does U.S. law require notification to individuals subject to U.S. visa sanctions? How does one learn that he or she has been placed on a list of banned individuals?
ANSWER: U.S. law generally does not require notification to the individuals subject to visa restrictions. When the Department revokes a visa, we attempt to notify the visa holder of the revocation and, when possible, physically cancel the visa. Individual determinations of visa eligibility are made at the time of application for all visa applicants.
