Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Dr. Kerri-Ann Jones will travel to Indonesia July 16 through 25.
On July 23, Dr. Jones will co-chair with Indonesia the second meeting of the U.S.-Indonesia Climate and Environment Working Group. This is one of six thematic working groups under the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership, which seeks to promote cooperation across a range of issues, from energy, security, and trade to education, democracy and civil society.
On July 22, Dr. Jones will attend a Ministerial meeting of the Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI). On July 21 in Bali, Dr. Jones will participate in several meetings to discuss issues relating to science and technology, health and oceans. On July 19 in Solo, Dr. Jones will take part in a meeting hosted by the Government of Indonesia on the Institutional Framework for Sustainable Development, a high-level dialogue in preparation for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20).
