QUESTION: Will the State Department provide special security for the Libyan Embassy/Charge here in Washington?
ANSWER: The U.S. Government takes seriously its obligations under Articles 22 and 29 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, in taking all appropriate steps to protect the premises of foreign diplomatic missions and their personnel in the United States. The Department will work closely with the United States Secret Service and local law enforcement to ensure an appropriate level of security is afforded to the Libyan Embassy and mission personnel.
