QUESTION: Has North Korea requested flood aid assistance? If so, is the United States considering providing flood aid assistance to North Korea?
ANSWER: We remain concerned about the well-being of the North Korean people. We are looking into the issue of recent flooding in North Korea. No additional aid has been requested at this time. The United States supports emergency humanitarian assistance to the people of North Korea in accordance with international standards for monitoring. Our humanitarian assistance is not linked to any political or security issues.
