The Department of State’s Office of Press Relations has established a new email address through which members of the press corps may seek official comment on urgent issues outside regular work hours. Starting Wednesday, September 7, reporters will be able to reach the duty press officer through the following channels:
During Work Hours (8 a.m. until approximately 7 p.m. on workdays):
Office of Press Relations: (202) 647-2492
After the Press Office is closed, until 11 p.m. Monday through Friday; and from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, and holidays:
State Dept Operations Center: (202) 647-1512
Email: PressDuty@State.gov
This new e-mail address is intended to facilitate press inquiries and is distinct from the channel through which members of the press may request interviews. All requests from media for interviews with State Department officials should still be submitted to MediaRequests@State.gov.
Separately, U.S. citizens may submit their requests for information or express their opinions to the Office of Public Liaison:
Telephone: (202) 647-6575
Email: http://contact-us.state.gov/app/ask
