Question: Who were the U.S. Government and private participants in the September 12 conference call with U.S. business leaders? Who organized the call?
Answer: Today Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs (EB) Jose W. Fernandez and U.S. Ambassador to Libya Gene Cretz hosted a teleconference with American business leaders to discuss practical ways the U.S. public and private sectors can support Libya’s reconstruction efforts. More than 100 leaders from a broad range of business sectors including energy, transportation, telecommunications and consumer products joined the call, as well as representatives from U.S. government agencies including the Departments of Commerce and Agriculture and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. The U.S. Department of State along with the interagency community will continue to update the American business community on addressing the needs in Libya.
