The United States welcomes the resumption of official 5+2 negotiations to find a settlement to the Transnistrian conflict. Agreement was reached on September 22 to restart negotiations by the parties to the conflict together with the other 5+2 participants: the OSCE, the European Union, Russia, Ukraine and the United States. The United States supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and on that basis supports 5+2 negotiations to find a comprehensive settlement that will provide a special status for Transnistria within Moldova.
