QUESTION: Has the original Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from Friends of the Earth on the proposed Keystone XL project been expanded or is the original FOIA request just not complete?
ANSWER: The Department takes seriously its responsibility to fulfill all requests under the FOIA.
The original FOIA request has not been expanded. As of October 5, the Department had released 101 documents to the Friends of the Earth in two segments (34 documents on August 25 and 67 documents on September 29). The Department continues to work to respond to the FOIA request and expects to release further information to Friends of the Earth in the coming weeks.
