Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Michael Posner and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Thomas Melia will travel to Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, and Kazan, Russia from October 10th to 15th to discuss a wide range of human rights and democracy issues.
During their visit, Assistant Secretary Posner and Deputy Assistant Secretary Melia will engage with senior government officials, journalists, students, and representatives of religious minority and civil society groups. Topics for discussion will include internet freedom and religious freedom, as well as elections, tolerance, and conditions for civil society.
