Question: Please provide a readout of A/S Campbell’s meetings in Beijing.
Answer: Assistant Secretary Kurt Campbell and Department of Defense Acting Assistant Secretary for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs Peter Lavoy traveled to Beijing to attend the second round of U.S.-China Asia-Pacific Consultations with Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai on October 11 in Beijing.
The consultations are an outcome of the third Strategic and Economic Dialogue held in May. The meeting provided an opportunity for the United States and China to exchange views on the Asia-Pacific region. These consultations are one of several U.S. regional dialogues with Asia-Pacific states and complement U.S.-China sub-dialogues regarding other regions of the world.
