Deputy Secretary Thomas Nides will visit Canada November 1-2, 2011. He will travel to Ottawa to participate in the Canada-U.S. Partnership Conference on Enhancing the Innovation Ecosystem, and to meet with Canadian political and business leaders.
The Deputy Secretary’s visit will reinforce our already strong dialogue on enhancing U.S.-Canada cooperation on a wide range of issues including North American prosperity, regional security, the health and safety of citizens, and matters concerning the broader Western Hemisphere.
Canada is an important strategic partner of the United States in advancing democracy, security, and prosperity in the Western Hemisphere and globally. The United States and Canada share many opportunities and challenges and work collaboratively on a wide range of issues. This visit will reinforce our close relationship and reaffirm common objectives and strategies.
