Secretary Clinton to Deliver Remarks on the Global HIV/AIDS Epidemic on November 8

On November 8, 2011, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will deliver remarks on the future of the global HIV/AIDS epidemic at approximately 11:00 a.m. at the National Institutes of Health.

The Secretary will outline a vision for turning the tide on HIV/AIDS, drawing on the 30 years of U.S. leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS and recent scientific advances.

Secretary Clinton’s remarks will be open to credentialed members of the media and streamed live on

Credentialed media interested in attending should contact Calvin Jackson in the NIH Press Office at 301-594-8750 for specific logistics information. Pre-set time for video cameras: 9:00 a.m. at the Masur Auditorium. Final access time for journalists and still photographers: 10:00 a.m. at the Masur Auditorium.

Media are encouraged to arrive via the NIH/Medical Center Metro Station. A dedicated special event shuttle will be available at the Gateway Visitor Center, which is at the Metro station exit. The first shuttle will depart from the Gateway Visitor Center at 9:00 a.m.

Media arriving by automobile are encouraged to use the South Drive (and Rockville Pike) entrance of NIH. Parking will be available in Lot 10H, which is directly south of the NIH Clinical Center. Click here for a map of the NIH facilities.

The National Institutes of Health is a secure government facility with perimeter checkpoints and vehicle inspections.

All visitor vehicles will be inspected before being allowed on campus. Visitors will be asked to show one (1) form of identification (a government-issued photo ID-driver's license, passport, green card, etc.) and to state the purpose of their visit. Be sure to allow extra time for this vehicle inspection procedure.
