The November edition of Washingtonian magazine named the State Department as one of the 50 Great Places to Work for 2011. The State Department is one of five federal agencies to earn this distinction. Other federal agencies selected for this distinction include: the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Smithsonian, the General Accounting Office (GAO), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Federal agencies were chosen for this honor based on a survey of Federal News Radio listeners and in consultation with the Partnership for Public Service.
