Rose E. Gottemoeller, Assistant Secretary for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance, travels to Geneva, Switzerland, through January 24, for the opening week of the Conference on Disarmament’s 2012 session. She will deliver the opening statement for the United States at the First Plenary of the 2012 Session of the Conference on Disarmament, in which she will press for immediate commencement of negotiations on a Fissile Material Cutoff Treaty and engage in consultations.
On January 25, she travels to Vienna, Austria, to meet with treaty partners and discuss arms control-related issues of mutual interest, including the future of conventional arms control in Europe.
