Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey D. Feltman and Egyptian Ambassador to the United States Sameh Shoukry met today at the Department of State as part of our ongoing engagement with the Egyptians to resolve the current situation as quickly as possible. We support a peaceful democratic transition in Egypt, want to do what we can to help the transition succeed, and wish to build a broad, deep relationship with Egypt’s new democratic government.
