U.S.-Turkey Economic Partnership Commission Holds its 8th Meeting on May 8, 2012, in Ankara, Turkey

The U.S.-Turkey Economic Partnership Commission will meet on May 8, in Ankara, Turkey. Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Jose W. Fernandez will head the U.S. delegation and Deputy Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Halit Cevik will lead the Turkish delegation. United States participation includes the Departments of State, Commerce, Energy, and Transportation; the Office of the United States Trade Representative; and the United States Trade and Development Agency.

This eighth meeting of the Commission is focused on exploring opportunities for further economic and commercial cooperation between the United States and Turkey. The Commission started in 2002 and is key to realizing our shared goal of strengthening our economic partnership. The delegations will discuss trade, investment, energy, and infrastructure, as well as pharmaceuticals, intellectual property rights, agricultural, and information and communications technology issues.

In the run-up to the Commission meeting, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey Francis Ricciardone hosted a “Direct Line” conference call on May 3, 2012 with interested U.S. companies to discuss new investment incentives in Turkey.
