On June 4, Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns and Nigerian Foreign Minister Olugbenga Ashiru will launch the seventh gathering of the U.S.-Nigeria Binational Commission, June 4-5 at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C. This occasion marks the first time that four of the Binational Commission working groups have been convened simultaneously, and will focus on governance, transparency, and integrity; regional security cooperation; energy and investment; and agriculture and food security. The two-day event will address a range of initiatives to promote governance, development, and security in the interest of both Nigeria and the United States.
