Deputy Assistant Secretary Thomas O. Melia of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor will lead an interagency delegation that will visit Georgia from September 10-12 to assess the pre-election environment. The delegation will also include officials from USAID and the Departments of Defense and Justice.

Deputy Assistant Secretary Melia and the delegation will hold a number of meetings to urge the Georgian Government to implement Georgia’s electoral laws in a fair, impartial, and transparent manner, and to urge all political parties to fully participate in the process while abiding by the law.
