Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C. Richard will lead the U.S. delegation to the U.S.-Canada Humanitarian Consultations in Ottawa, Canada, to be held on October 12, 2012.
The agenda includes strengthening the UN’s humanitarian architecture, best practices for assisting refugees and internally displaced people, and the protection of civilians. Additionally, operational issues pertaining to Syria, the Horn of Africa, Afghanistan, Burma and other countries will be discussed.
