On January 16, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson will speak on “The United States – Africa Partnership: The Last Four Years and Beyond,” reflecting on the progress the United States and Africa have made together over the last four years in addressing Africa’s challenges and unlocking the continent’s potential. Among other issues, the Assistant Secretary will speak about the U.S.-Africa partnership on democracy, governance, and human rights; economic growth, trade, and investment; peace and security; and development and opportunity. He also will look ahead to some of the challenges Africa will face going forward.
