Assistant Secretary for Conflict and Stabilization Operations Travels to Brussels and London

Assistant Secretary for Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO) Rick Barton will travel to Brussels, Belgium, January 27-29 and to London, England, January 30-February 1.

While in Brussels, Assistant Secretary Barton will hold consultations with the European Union and NATO on CSO’s primary global engagements. He will also meet with representatives from Development and Cooperation-EuropeAid, the European External Action Service, and NATO to discuss enhanced transatlantic cooperation on crisis response and conflict prevention. The Assistant Secretary will address members of the Transatlantic Policy Network on the future of stabilization operations and strengthening the Transatlantic partnership on key civilian security issues.

In London, Assistant Secretary Barton will co-host the Stabilization Leaders Forum with Lindy Cameron, the Director of the UK’s Stabilisation Unit. The Forum will cover conflict prevention, response, and civilian capacity. It will also include stabilization leaders from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, and Netherlands. During the Forum, A/S Barton will deliver remarks and lead a discussion on harnessing host nation partner capabilities.
