Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board Hosts The Fulbright Experience: Reaching Out to All People with Disabilities

The J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board will host The Fulbright Experience: Reaching Out to All People with Disabilities, a public forum on international higher education opportunities and the challenges for people with disabilities and in the deaf community, on February 12, 2013, at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.

U.S. Representative Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), a former Army helicopter pilot who lost both of her legs fighting in Iraq, will introduce the discussion. Dr. Christie L. Gilson, a Fulbright alumna and the first blind member of the Fulbright Board, will moderate. Opening the event with brief remarks will be Tom Healy, Chairman, J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, and Dr. T. Alan Hurwitz, President, Gallaudet University.

Four featured panelists will share their unique experiences with the Fulbright Program and discuss the future of the Fulbright Program for persons with disabilities, including achievements and challenges: Dr. Christie L. Gilson, Member, Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and Fulbright Alumna; Cerise Roth-Vinson, Chief Operating Officer, Mobility International USA; Marcelo de França Moreira, Humphrey Fellow from Brazil, American University School of Law; and Dr. Steven D. Collins, Assistant Professor, Gallaudet University and Fulbright Alumnus.
