The U.S. Department of State, in partnership with Technically Philly and the School District of Philadelphia, will host TechCamp Philadelphia: Education from February 23-24, 2013. The event will be held at the URBN Center on the Drexel University Campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This event marks the 22nd TechCamp supporting the Department initiative to build the digital literacy of civil society organizations around the world.
TechCamp is a signature program of Civil Society 2.0 and is a two-day training event that pairs leaders in the technology community with civil society organizations from around the world to provide training, resources, and support that enable civil society organizations to harness the latest connection technologies to build capacity and advance their missions.
Leaders from Philadelphia’s education community will share the current challenges they face with peers and technologists to brainstorm and build technology solutions that address these challenges. This TechCamp will create a tangible step forward in building an engaged network between K12 educators and civically-engaged technologists that care about education.
To date, TechCamps have trained more than 1,200 civil society organizations from more than 80 countries around the world. Connection technologies build new networks of relationships, enhance skill development, and create new avenues for communication. Adoption of these tools by educational organizations will help support the missions of these groups, as well as broader social goals of democracy, transparency, and good governance in the 21st Century.
